My favorite things to talk about, think about, read about, write about are culture, people, relationships, leadership, team building, global lifestyles, and international experiences…

Internet-landia has lots of junk on it and when I first started Social Media-ing my way through the intercultural field, I didn’t find a lot of intercultural bloggers.  Digging through countless travel writers, globetrotter blogs you can satisfy your curiousity for culture at the surface level, but when I really want to nerd out about the training strategies, constructivist theory, developmental models and all things intercultural – where do I go?  Here is a list of some of my favorite Blogging Interculturalists.

FIT_Podcast_med

Fit Across Cultures – Founder, Susan Salzbrenner is rockin an active blog and podcast that brings our attention to a niche market – the world of international athletes, teams and coaches.  I love the way we can learn from how teams work – not in a business context, but in sports.

Small Planet Studio – Founder, Cate Brubacker is great at helping navigate transitions, she has a super helpful ebook on Re-Entry.  She also hosts a super cool free online summit – Living My Ideal Global Life, as well as Twitter chats and blog link ups, the next one is this Friday! Linked to the My Global Life Link-Up at SmallPlanetStudio.com.

intercultural-training-channell-coaching-matthew-hill

The Intercultural Training Channel from Matthew Hill on YouTube. Many free webinars are available in bite-size easy to watch format on this YouTube channel, as well as interviews with professionals in the field.  Did you miss the Dialogin conference last week in Konstanz? Not to worry, Matthew captures some interviews and you can find them on youtube! Wa-la!

Cultural Detective Blog  offers information how to use their online tools effectively, and also shares personal stories from trainers.  The range of blog topics here is huge, as they hold a very active online presence also on twitter, facebook, pinterest and more…  Instead of giving examples – I’ll just tell you that everytime I read a post or newsletter from Cultural Detective, I feel reconnected to the field, my colleagues spread around the world and the reason why I care so much about intercultural work. Thanks Dianne and team for keeping us connected :) flur.png

The Melibee Global SWARM

Melibee Global – A great place to find current articles related to international education like how to effectively advise LGBTQI students, how to attend NAFSA conference on a budget and a series of how to meet local people, in a culture-context-appropriate way in cities around the world. Coming this fall they launch The Melibee Swarm (A New Type of Conference): Culture, Identity and Perspective. Want to know whats all the buzz about? Just click here.flur.png

eilidh-milnes-leadership-inspiration-positivity-coach

Eilidh Milnes – She wouldn’t call herself an interculturlist per se, always comes at the right moment – when the challenges of being an independent freelancer are creeping in, she helps keep me thinking postitive and focused. She is familiar with the intercultural field and co-authored the Diversity Dashboard with Debbie Swallow, (former SIETAR Europa President).  A trainer and speaker herself, her regular newsletter is ful of motivational and positive-thinking, a helpful asset to me as an intercultural trainer for the ever-important-self-care aspect of my career.  Thanks Eilidh! flur.png

Southeast Shnitzel from Christian Höferle is a fun blog with insights to his life in Tennessee as a German-expat.  He comments on current events through the lens of an interculturalist – things like the culture groups of the World Cup, and the cross-cultural legacy of Maya Angelou. He also reproduced a question I posed on the SIETAR Europa Linkedin group into a comic strip, How do you explain the work of an interculturalist?flur.png

Are you blogging about topics around cross-cultural communication, global leadership, intercultural competence or diversity and inclusion facilitation?

If you are, I want to follow you – so send me a tweet or comment below.

Did you know I run a Pinterest board with the websites of Intercultural Communication Trainers Online?

Give it a look and let me know if I’m missing someone who is part of our community…
